Lisa M. Bartoli, D.O.
Lisa M. Bartoli, D.O. is a physician in private practice specializing in Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation. Prior to opening her current practice she was an Attending Physician at the
world-renowned Mt Sinai Beth Israel Center for Health and Healing. She currently has Volunteer
Physician status with the Department of Orthopedics at Mt Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center in
New York City.
Dr Bartoli has a long affiliation with USA Women’s Rugby. She served with the program as the
Team Physician for USA Women’s 7’s Rugby from 2008 to 2016, Team Physician for USA Women’s 15’s
Rugby from 2004-2010, and served as the Medical Director of the USA Women’s Rugby program from
2008-2010. She served as the team physician for the 2006 and 2010 Women’s 15’s World Cup, and
the 2009 and 2013 Women’s 7’s World Cup Teams. She had the honor of serving as a member of the
medical staff for Team USA as the Team Physician for the USA Women’s 7’s Rugby Team at both the
2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada and The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. She is also a member of the USA Rugby Medical and Safety Committee.
Her practice is focused on outpatient integrative sports medicine, musculoskeletal medicine,
non-operative spine pain, Osteopathic manual medicine, and medical acupuncture.
Dr Bartoli is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of
Osteopathic Medicine (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine). She completed her
Residency training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry - New Jersey Medical School (now
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School), and the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, where she also
served as Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Interventional Spine
and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation at the Beth Israel Medical Center – Albert Einstein college
of Medicine where she received training in interventional spine procedures, orthopedic office
based procedures, EMG/nerve conductions studies, as well as advanced training in sports medicine
and rehabilitation techniques including team and sport coverage, preseason physical exams, and
injury prevention programs.
Following her Fellowship she accepted a position at Beth Israel Medical Center as an attending
physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the Department of Orthopedics, where she
was encouraged to expand the women’s sports medicine and rehabilitation program.
Dr Bartoli treats recreational to elite level rugby players, as well as triathletes,
marathoners, soccer players, fencers, figure skaters, tennis players, and all athletes and
active people ranging in age from adolescence to senior citizens.
Dr Bartoli has lectured nationally on the topic of sports medicine especially in the areas of
women’s sports medicine, the role of the team physician and integrative sports medicine. She
also lectures and mentors medical students, residents and fellows.
She is board certified both by the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation, and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a Past
President of the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is
also proud to have been selected as a Fellow of the college. Dr Bartoli was named a Bravewell
fellow in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona.
Dr Bartoli completed her Undergraduate and Graduate studies at the University of Delaware in
Physical Education, Athletic Training and Sports medicine. While at Delaware she was a member of
the Division 1 softball team, serving as captain her senior year, and assistant coach
immediately upon graduation. She worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer from 1987-1992. These
experiences as an athlete, coach, athletic trainer and now team physician have provided her with
a unique perspective and a wide and varied experience as a sports medicine practitioner.
